Individual Leadership Coaching

Do you have sufficient “ready now” leaders in your succession pipeline? Are new leaders getting off on the wrong foot with their teams? Are clinical and technical leaders struggling to motivate and engage team members?

Zavi was an experienced Laboratory Cytotechnician well regarded for his clinical expertise. His success landed him the role of Lab Manager and supervisor to a team of 8. What got him the role was not serving him well in performing it. He was frustrating his team members by giving mandates without support or resources, and avoiding team conflicts. He thought, “they are adults, they should work it out on their own.” Over time this resulted in 2 team members leaving, a backlog of work, and Zavi frustrated he had to spend time recruiting new team members. Bottom line he wasn’t effectively performing his role as people manager and leader.

The Problem
Most Healthcare leaders are highly educated clinicians or technical experts who've built deep “horizontal” expertise and skills in their professional domain. But leadership is about influencing people . . . inspiring and aligning complex, nuanced human beings for action. It's not reducible to data or procedures. Rare is leadership and people management part of their education. Without heart and personal connection, leadership is a tough road to travel.

The Solution
My leadership coaching takes leaders on a path of “vertical development” to learn new ways of how to think, lead, and solve problems by expanding awareness of oneself, others, and the systems within which they work.  This involves engaging the heart in addition to the head for a more whole-person approach to leading. Together we will take the journey from the head to the heart, and back again, to embed a new leadership mindset and approach . . . vital ingredients to inspiring and working with and through others. All with more ease, joy and fulfillment.

The Outcome
Together, we’ll unleash the best of you - head and heart. With the right mindset you can build the capabilities necessary to overcome your greatest challenges and prepare you to take on greater responsibilities with confidence, making the contribution you want to and the organization needs you to make.

"The most important journey you will ever take is the 18 inches from your head to your heart".
